Hudson the hedgehog needs your help!

In Butterfly, a cute little game for 2-5 players, you take turns moving Hudson around the board collecting interesting insects!

Look at all those interesting insects!

On your turn you can either stay facing the current direction, or turn 90 degrees left or right. Once you’ve decided where to go, you can move any number of squares, stopping on the item you want to collect.

Each critter you can grab scores differently. Butterflies are worth the points shown on the tile, while other tiles score the highest or lowest one you’ve collected. There are also some tricky ones that you need to avoid like wasps and bees, as they can cost you points and maybe sting poor Hudson!

The game ends as soon as anyone can’t collect a tile on their turn, and you add up your points to find the winner.

Game over! Who will win?

We really love this easy-going game. It only takes a few minutes to set up and learn, and each round lasts about 15 minutes. It’s on the lighter side, so it would be great for younger players, but there’s enough strategy involved to keep those of us who are slightly less young engaged as well!

The variety of scoring methods makes you think about what move would be best every turn, and you also have to think about what options you are leaving your opponents, because you don’t want to give them an easy path to a great item!

Butterfly is such a cute little game, and the hedgehog meeple is just adorable. We’ve had a lot of fun trying this one out and can definitely see it fitting nicely into our collection of lazy Sunday afternoon games.
